2005-03-02 · This study is focused on the heat-affected zone after femtosecond laser ablation and the laser ablation rate. As a result of the x-ray diffraction measurement on the ablated surface, the crystallinity of the surface is partially changed from a crystal structure into an amorphous one.

Femtosecond laser ablation of metals has been investigated for over 30 years. Compared with longer pulses, femtosecond laser ablation indeed has lots of advantages, including the finer interaction spot beyond the optical diffraction limit , the smaller heat-affected zone (HAZ) , and the higher energy deposition rate , . However, due to the ultrafast time scale and microscopic spatial scale, direct measurements of the thermodynamic process of femtosecond laser ablation are still incomplete. The mechanism of ablation of solids by intense femtosecond laser pulses is described in an explicit analytical form. It is shown that at high intensities when the ionization of the target material is complete before the end of the pulse, the ablation mechanism is the same for both metals and dielectrics.

The extreme intensities and short timescale at which ultrashort pulsed lasers operate differentiate them from other lasers such as nanosecond laser. Dye-enhanced, plasma-mediated ablation of the skin is therefore a potentially advantageous approach to enhance topical/transdermal drug absorption. The combination of a fiber laser and a HC-NCF, capable of emitting and delivering femtosecond pulsed, visible light, may permit a compact poration device to be developed. Abstract: Thermodynamics effects generated by femtosecond laser ablation are very important. In this work, the numerical simulation of high-energy femtosecond laser ablation especially the electro-phonon coupling coefficient influence of high-energy femtosecond laser ablation on metal target was studied. Interaction of intense ultrashort laser pulses (120 fs at 795 nm) with polymer based composites has been investigated.

Ultrashort laser ablation have the capability to ablate materials precisely with little or no collateral damage, even with materials that are impervious to laser energy from conventional pulsed lasers. The extreme intensities and short timescale at which ultrashort pulsed lasers operate differentiate them from other lasers such as nanosecond laser.

The mechanism of ablation of solids by intense femtosecond laser pulses is described in an explicit analytical form. It is shown that at high intensities when the ionization of the target material is complete before the end of the pulse, the ablation mechanism is the same for both metals and dielectrics. The physics of this new ablation regime involves ion acceleration in the electrostatic field caused by charge separation created by energetic electrons escaping from the target. Abstract Femtosecond laser ablation selectively dissects subcellular components of the C. elegans neuronal circuit with submicrometer precision for studying the neuronal ori-gins of behavior.

We find that the expansion dynamics of water and gel, as observed during the first few nanoseconds, are extremely similar over a large range of ablation energies. Ablation efficiency for dentin reached a maximum value of 0.020 mm3∕J when the laser fluence was set at 6.51 J∕cm2.

Pulse duration of femtosecond laser pulse is shorter than electron-to-ion energy transfer time and heat conduction time in the sample lattice. Femtosecond laser ablation of enamel The surface topographical, compositional, and structural modifications induced in human enamel by femtosecond laser ablation is studied. The laser treatments were performed using a Yb:KYW chirped-pulse-regenerative amplification laser system (560 fs and 1030 nm) and fluences up to 14 J/cm2. 2021-01-01 · Ablation plumes formed during femtosecond laser interaction with metals have been reported in previous studies , , , . A multicomponent ablation plume is formed on the target surface, including vapour-phase atoms in the front part of the plume, small clusters and droplets in the middle of the plume and liquid metal near the surface [26] , [50] . 2013-07-25 · We systematically applied femtosecond laser ablation, which has submicrometer resolution in vivo, to dissect the cell bodies, dendrites, or axons of a sensory neuron (ASJ) in Caenorhabditis elegans to determine their roles in modulating locomotion and the developmental decisions for dauer, a facultative, stress-resistant life stage. Femtosecond laser pulses (wavelength of 800 nm, pulse width of 100 fs, pulse energies of 2 – 900 μJ) were focused and irradiated on the polished surface of metals in air.
